Clean Label and Fibre Enriched Yoghurt
The continual drive towards clean label formulation is nowhere more prevalent than with one of dairy’s most dominant categories, yoghurt. Consumers are looking further than just trying to manage their sugar intake, whilst trending away from anything perceived as ‘processed’. It’s therefore never been more important to formulate using ingredients that people understand and that don’t clutter your ingredients list whilst helping to achieve targets where HFSS is concerned.
Yoghurt is mostly milk, though despite its exceptional nutrient composition, does lack in fibre and with over 90% of people failing to consume enough in their diet, this is one area receiving focus. One such innovation that has surfaced as a way manufacturers have tried to tackle this problem is seen with fibre enrichment. Quite simply, rather than formulate with synthetic fiber compounds like polydextrose, why not look at plant based? Meet both clean label demands and retail viability in one ingredient, with fibre derived from oats, soy, wheat, bamboo or tapioca!
