What is Dietary Fibre?
Dietary fibre is the indigestible part of plant foods. Unlike other nutrients like fats, proteins, or carbohydrates, which your body breaks down and absorbs, fibre is not digested by your body. Instead, it passes relatively intact through your stomach, small intestine, and colon and out of your body.
There are two types of dietary fibre:
- Soluble Fibre – Slows down digestion
- Insoluble Fibre – Aids digestions and add roughage to stool
We supply a wide range of innovative fibres, both soluble and insoluble, that are derived from a wide range of sources allowing for a diverse range of product applications.
How much fibre do you need in your diet? (as per UK government guidelines, as of August 2024)
